Flare
Hold Space, or the FLARE button on a phone, to shoot ahead. It costs light, and the light you burn drops behind you for anyone to eat.
Your worm can now flare. Hold Space on a computer, or the round FLARE button in the lower right of a phone, and you move much faster with a pale halo and sparks off your tail.
It is not free. A flare burns one light the moment it catches and one more every half second you hold it, and each one drops behind you as a spore anyone can eat, you included after a moment. You need 3 light to flare, so a dim worm can't.
That makes it a choice. Flare to beat someone to the heartspore when it ripens, to reach gold before it drifts off, or to catch the leader and bump some light loose. Hold it too long and the worm behind you eats your trail. Bots flare too, but only when something good is close.
Same 75 seconds, same cave, same points for everything else.
